CARE GUIDE

Our jewellery is designed to embrace the natural ageing and tarnish of everyday wear. However if you wish to prevent this, take a look at how to care for your pieces.

Keep in mind, every Recollect piece is carefully handmade. Each piece will be slightly unique and any variation in beads is due to the handmade nature of the piece.

GUIDE BY MATERIAL

Sterling Silver

925 sterling silver is a lightweight metal made of 92.5% pure silver. It’s highly durable and designed for everyday wear.

Sterling silver will naturally tarnish over time when exposed to perspiration, cosmetics, chemicals, chlorine and salt water giving a beautiful lived-in appearance. However if you wish to prevent this, we recommend storing your jewellery in a pouch in a dry place and using a sterling silver polishing cloth to bring back lustre.

14K Gold Vermeil

Not to be confused with regular gold plating, vermeil is a thick 5 micron layer of solid gold on sterling silver, lasting much longer than regular plating.

Due to its thicker gold layer, gold vermeil is a durable option for jewellery pieces.

Gold vermeil will naturally tarnish over time when exposed to perspiration, cosmetics, chemicals, chlorine and salt water. However if you wish to prevent this, we recommend storing your jewellery in a pouch in a dry place.

Polishing cloths can be abrasive on gold vermeil, so we recommend proactive maintenance. To keep tarnish from setting in, clean your pieces regularly by wiping them with a soft, dry cloth.

Our gold vermeil pieces also feature an e-coating which increases durability and longevity of your piece.
